So yesterday was pretty laid back. We learned about our classes and learned how to use the metro. It is surprisingly easy, and I think much more efficient than the El (the Chicago train transit system). My classes seem okay, I'd rather be learning about Mexican culture and history but I suppose Chilean history is equally as exciting. My research topic has something to do with family dynamics. I'm not exactly sure that interests me, but then again I'm not exactly sure what that entails.
I start classes today. I have Spanish and History/Culture of Chile. I took my Spanish test yesterday. Not having taken a language classes in two years, it was weird taking a language test, let alone one in Spanish, as opposed to what I was used to, French. Afterwards, everyone was like "ugh, I couldn't remember how to use subjunctive" or "I completely forgot about the predicate (?) and past participle." I feel absolutely stupid because I flew through the test thinking it was pretty easy, but after hearing all of the comments, it hit me that I've never taken a Spanish class. I never learned about the past, past participle, subjunctive, etc, and I don't know how to differentiate any verb tenses. I probably failed and will be placed in the elemental or intermediate levels, which frustrates me because I am somewhat fluent, without knowing verb tenses.
Sorry I haven't posted any pictures. I'm going on two excursions this weekend so I promise I'll show the lovely city of Santiago soon!
